    Mid Week Post

    10 Mar 2010, 4:14 pm

Ok got word from our Mattel rep that we can in fact add a few more Garage 30 Car Sets to our pre-order.  So there are another 50 units up for pre-order.  Please order fast as the first batch pre-sold out very fast.

Speaking of Mattel, we just got in the newest Garage rides, and all singles are on the site now.  Subscriptions will be shipped tomorrow.

Ok as promised I am trying to add some of the old stock to the new site (http://milezone.com/index.php) each day this week.  Tonight I figured I would change it up a bit, so will be adding some JL rides to the site.  They are older MuscleCars and Muscle Gold rides, all at $1.99 each!  So give the site a peek when you get a few moments of freetime.

Will be updating the milezone.com main page, so you can go from the .net site to the .com site with ease.

That’s it for tonight, see you all tomorrow…..

    Tuesday Night Wrap

    9 Mar 2010, 4:38 pm

Did some shipping, all orders out the doors.  Then some time for more old stock adding to the new site (http://milezone.com/index.php).  Today we added lots of Classics 3 rides, 26 different ones to be exact.  Still lots more Classics to add, but will be plugging away adding as I get the time.

So far the reports on the new site have been awesome.  You guys (and gals) seem to really like the new programming.  It is the top of the line, state of the art ecommerce software, so a bit of a learning curve on my admin area, but I love the ease of adding products.   I added the 26 new products today in like 20 minutes!  That is fast!

A small learning curve for you guys as well with the 1 page checkout, but after you play with it a bit, you will see it is much smoother, EXACT real time shipping quotes, and as always super secure.  The design folks will be adding some cool touches to the site this week, so if you see some messy stuff happening, please pardon the mess, you will enjoy the sleek modern design when finished.

Ok let me talk about the Diecast Library for a bit.  We are 1 month into the new site opening, and now have over 380 registered users, and over 3,700 images!   Traffic looks very consistant, and seems like we are averaging 12 new image uploads a day.  It doesn’t seem like much but 12 x 562 days (1 year) and we have over 6,700 images!  So we could break that 10,000 mark by the end of the year if you folks give us a hand.   Please visit the site, start your personal database, say hi to everyone in the Shout It Box, and let’s get some messages going in the message forum.  All totally FREE to use.

Ok that’s it for now.  And for future reference, please start watching the http://milezone.com page to see updates on both the .net site, and the new .com site.  We will eventually (end of year) remove the .net site and again be fully functional on milezone.com.  Thanks

    Red Line Models’ 1:24 1961 / 1962 Ferrari TRs

Rocking in Resin Ferrari’s ground-breaking engineer Carlo Chiti brought the science of using scale models in a controlled environment to Maranello in the late 1950’s. Red Line models (www.redline-model.com, distributed in America by Minichamps, NA, www.minichampsna.com) has brought the science of high-tech modeling to render the results in 1:24. I’ll get right to it; these models of the Le Mans-winning pair of TRs (the TR61 that Phil Hill and Olivier Gendenbein won Le Mans in in 1961, and the 330 LM TR1 they repeated with in 1962) are incredibly beautiful, wonderfully artful replicas that not only represent these historically important Ferraris, but pull the viewer in with just enough hand-built feel to make them viscerally exciting and consistently fresh on display. The first part comes from great sculpts and hi-end resin castings, and the rest from painstakingly applied multi-media detail bits and subassemblies. There are photoetch handles and spoked wheels, impeccable lensing and scale-thin wind fairings, and hand-placed transfers and painted rivet details which make the images as entertaining as curbside models can be. Velocity stacks stand mute, dovetailed together under clear hood scoops, and at the other end, four baffle-stuffed pipes hang like silent shotguns under the cars’ rears. Screening is inside the ports and scoops, and the cars’ interiors - no-nonsense affairs with painted dashes and toolkits rolled up in the passenger seat - look ready to rocket down the back stretch at mind-blurring speed. Aside from the difference in liveries, the cars are held apart on sight by the aggressive wing that rises from newer car’s hips, as well as the scoop on its nose - necessary to feed air to its 4.0 liter V12. Mounted to heavy bases and shipped with clear, heavy acrylic display covers, each model comes from a limited run of 1,000 pieces, and sells for around $195.00. Sometimes science results in art, after all - CRM. Red Line Models Ferrari TRs, distributed by Minichamps, NA, www.minichampsna.com

    Monday Night Wrap

    8 Mar 2010, 5:03 pm

The normal Monday of shipping weekend orders.  All orders out the door, so we took some inventory of some old Classics 2, 3, and 4 rides.  Will be adding these to our new site (http://milezone.com/index.php) tonight at smokin hot $1.49 each prices!!  Whoops did I just give out the new site address?  :-)   Well keep it secret, we still have lots of work to do on the looks of the site.   But had some good testing from some users over the weekend without problems, so figure we would slowly leak the info to you all.  Just remember when you go there, it is a new program, so if you make a purchase you will have to sign up as a new customer.  We have been telling folks just use the same info as you do with the .net site.

In a few weeks (or a month or so) we will slowly reverse the sites, and start adding new goodies to the .com site.  Once we get to that point, we will let everyone know the details on how to go to both sites, until we convert them into one site again.  For now we are adding lots of old rides at incredible clearance prices.  Oh and a few secrets here and there, so watch the site.  :-)

This week we have to work on a custom project for a company, and after that we will be producing our first ride for the MPR (Milezone Performance Racing), and the 1st Flames – The Series ride.

Before I forget, I want to say thanks for the awesome pre-orders of the 30 Car Garage set.  I was figuring we would only pre-sell a few sets, but holy moly, this was officially our largest amount of pre-orders for an item ever!  I talked with our rep, and he told me to actually slow down, as I may have reached the limit.  :-(   So there are only a few more left, after that I cannot take anymore pre-order.  So thanks guys for the huge amount of pre-orders.

Ok that’s it, gonna start working on adding the Classics Series 2, 3, and 4 to the site.  Tonight only adding about 30 or so rides.  We have a good 200 different ones to add, so this section will grow quite fast.  And if you missed that sneak link it was milezone.com/index.php

    See you all tomorrow….

PT Cruiser With Yellow Stripe Seperating Colors

    6 Mar 2010, 11:25 pm

    .

Like the title states, I painted a 1/2″ Yellow stripe to separate the Black & Burnt Orange.  The only major problem with the paintjob is the Hot Rod Flatz Black.  I didn’t like how blotchy it turned out the first time, so I sanded it down and shot the black again…with the same results.  So, after talking with different painters and searching the internet I found out that the Black is notorious for becoming either blotchy or striping.  The only way I can see to resolve this is to sand it one last time and shoot it Black Basecoat with a Flat Clear over the top.  All of the other painters agreed that it is the only way to put on the Hot Rod Flatz Black, single stage will only give you problems…so I found out.  So here are some pictures of how it now sits.

Oh ya, the spoiler is not yet attached, it is just sitting there.

    Mike
